COMPETITION RULES AND REGS

This is an Invite only friendly comp with like-minded good buggers that enjoy fishing. The biggie for all to remember is that this comp is based on length, not weight so you need a brag mat, these come with the boat kit.

1. Entry is $150 per person – Fee covers Entry to the competition, prizes competition shirt, etc

If you have any questions, or issues or wish to get a refund, contact Mark. No refunds from 4th September when tickets close due to T-shirt Printing etc.

2. Only people who entered the competition can be on a watercraft fishing in the competition. Any boat found to have “extra” non-registered people on board will have those individuals and teams disqualified and entry forfeited. You may have a non-fishing skipper however they cannot be involved in hooking or landing fish, no fish caught by a non-fishing skipper can be entered in the comp.

3. You must be paid and registered before the comp starts. 70 PEOPLE MAX

4. The fishing area has been extended to include the entire MARLBOROUGH SOUNDS DURVILLE TASMAN BAY.

5. COMPETITION BRIEFING will be held at The Te Rawa Lodge. You are requested to attend the briefing to receive your ‘packs’ and cover the rules etc. If you can't attend please contact Mark

6. The fishing start time is 000hrs on 22 June 2023. The competition closes on 24th June at 4 pm. Prize giving from 5 pm at Te Rawa

7. Official ‘Measure up’ between – 1600 & 1700 daily. This is where you either have a ‘kept’ fish measured OR advise of released fish. All released fish must be accompanied by photographic proof of length that is legible. We require the use of a ‘Black Magic brag mat’ Please note if we can’t determine the fish length it won’t count. Fish caught after 5 pm can be counted in your next day’s tally if desired. It is at the angler's discretion which fish they decide to enter. We will not be chasing you for your fish, if you want to enter a fish you need to be at base on time. NB: there will be some daily prizes, as advised at the briefing.

8. All fish entered are done so on length only. This allows the angler to return quality breeding stock back to the water if desired.

9. All fish must be caught by rod and reel only.

10. No long lines or set nets – please note these are banned in the Kenepuru anyway.

11. Only fish species on the prize list are to be ‘weighed in’ Additional Species may be added at the discretion of the Director(s)

12. All fish must be of legal size to count.

13. The Director(s) reserve the right to reject any fish deemed not to comply with the rules for the competition

14. Any individual caught cheating, fishing in a marine reserve or breaking competition rules, or being an annoying cunt will be disqualified and incur a life ban from the competition.

15. No unsportsmanlike behaviour – this is a competition and a fun event, let’s keep it that way.

16. The competition is on rain hail or shine. It is the Skipper's responsibility to determine safe weather conditions appropriate to their boat.

17. Any accidents, injuries, or incidents that occur are solely the responsibility of the competitors, by entering the competition you agree that there can be no claim against the Directors for any harm to your person or property, direct or indirect that occurs during the competition. This is a non-sanctioned friendly comp with like-minded good buggers that enjoy fishing with the lads.

18. You must comply with all Maritime Safety rules and guidelines and of course MPI fishing regulations. No exceptions. AVERAGE LENGTH and MEASURING PROTOCOL • A maximum total of 1 species per person per day can be entered. • The average length is determined by the average length of all snappers entered during the competition. Closest to the mark wins. In the event of a tie – a coin toss will decide the winner between the tied fish. NB: With the average length competition it means if you only catch one Snapper you still have a good chance at a prize. Selecting which Snapper to enter is the angler’s decision and you are not obligated to enter any landed fish.. • In the event of a prize not being ‘won’ a random draw will occur with all competitors’ names in the hat. • Biggest Species is based on Length only. Nose to V of the tail. Have fun and fish hard. Please respect the fishery and the awesome environment we are fortunate enough to play in.
